Devlog #2 — Starsprite Observation Journal & April 2026 Update

11,000 Wishlists — Thank You

We've hit 11,000 wishlists. Thank you so much. Honestly, it still hasn't fully sunk in, but every time I see that number, I think, "It's really reaching people." This update introduces our new character, Starsprite, along with a roundup of recent changes.

Meet Starsprite — New Playable Character

〔 Starsprite Observation Journal — Written by: Dawnmatron 〕

Day 1

A new girl showed up! Her name is Starsprite. I've decided to call her Star. When I said "nice to meet you!" she just went "......mm." She's so cool!!

Day 3

Starsprite's fighting style is incredible. She builds up this sparkling energy in her costume — she calls it "Star Charge." Is that a little chunnibyou? Anyway, once it's full, she releases it all at once in a big burst.

Me: "Hey hey, why do you wait until the very last second to release it?" Starsprite: "......More charge. More power." Me: "But aren't you scared?? If you get knocked out halfway, you lose everything!" Starsprite: "Fine."

I don't think she's fine. Also, apparently it feels kind of good when she releases it.

Day 5

I witnessed an even more unhinged technique. She called it "Cascade Chain." You play one card, and it triggers the next card, which triggers the next, which triggers the next — and it just doesn't stop.

Me: "Starsprite, isn't that cheating?! I'm over here playing cards one by one like a normal person!" Starsprite: "......It's about how you build the deck." Me: "Ughhh, that's so unfair!!" Starsprite: "......Here." (pulls a cookie out of her pocket)

Okay maybe I was being a little immature. But I love Starsprite so much!!!!

Day 7

Today Starsprite was staring really hard at her draw pile. I asked what she was doing and she said "Scry" — apparently she can peek at the upcoming cards and rearrange their order. She can see the future......?

Me: "So do you know what cards I'm gonna draw on my next turn?" Starsprite: "Yes." Me: "What is it?" Starsprite: "......Curse card." Me: "That's so mean!!!"

Starsprite's Playstyle

Starsprite is a character built around charging up, chaining together, and reading ahead. Think of her as a fusion of the Silent and the Watcher from Slay the Spire.

Load up the burst potential with Star Charge, unleash it all at once with Cascade Chain, and control your draw pile with Scry. With less randomness in the mix, the quality of your deck-building translates directly into skill.

Her costume has a distinctly different vibe from Dawnmatron's. You've probably seen Dawnmatron in the screenshots posted on X (Twitter).

Other Updates

• Traditional Chinese support — Localization added
• New SFX — Significantly expanded sound effects for card play and UI interactions
• New BGM — Ambient BGM added to the title screen
• UI icon redesign — Cleaner, more cohesive visual style throughout
• New stage: Crystal Cave — A new area packed with new events and enemies
